Sweetheart Social Club: New Orleans Fashion Week begins. I’m on the edge...

  1. New Orleans Fashion Week begins.

I’m on the edge of my seat (and my twitter and instagram feed) watching and waiting for the designers. From the up and comers to the classic favorites, fall is fashion season and every fashionista, from the bloggers, to the writers, editors, stylists and photogs…everyone is waiting to see what will come down the runway.

And in New Orleans (I’m so proud to say) we are no different. We have artistic talent and creative vision, and our city is the most amazing backdrop for editorial brilliance.

So Saturday October 13th it all begins: the 4th season of NOLA Fashion Week (if I had a child, this would be it). The event schedule is here and your best bet is to purchase a membership to get in on the 35+ events. However, if you can’t quit your day job to spend 7 days soaking up runways and workshops and brunches and cocktails here’s the opening weekend events not to miss:

Are your “pictures your eyes” like Mario Testino?

What: Take an up close and personal look at the tricks of the lensmen with Editorial Photographer Jason Kruppa

Where: Bellocq at The Hotel Modern (reminder my birthday party locale? stunning, ps!)

    When: Saturday October 13th, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Ready to throw on those Manolo’s and hit your favorite boutiques like Carrie?

What: Visit Retail Shopping Day in-store events at Loft 3H, Angelique Boutiques, Eve’s Apple and NK Boutique, Hattie Sparks, Paris Parker Salons and Spas and Free People. Meet bloggers, do a little DIY, sip champagne, and shop ‘til you have every last outfit for the week picked out!

Where: all around the city, but stick uptown to hit as many stores as possible, and don’t miss the InExchange Fair Trade Show at La Thai on Prytania at 2 p.m.!

When: all day Saturday October 13th

    Love 4 a.m. chic, and a combo seerksucker/acid-wash attitude?

What: Check out the kick off party presented by Congo Square Couture featuring Matthew Arthur

Where: Saints & Sinners, French Quarter

    When: Show at 8 p.m., afterparty at 11 p.m.

And as Sunday’s sun rises, dab on that AVEDA eye cream, grab your biggest sunnies and get ready for a full day of events:

11 a.m. Join a special Amelie G toast at brunch at Ste. Marie

2 p.m. Map out your own fashion line with NOLA Sewn at the Life Cycle of a Style Workshop at Beta

4 p.m. The collection presentations begin! Construct Jewelry at Cellar Door

5 p.m. Fashion Week darling Amanda deLeon closes the evening at Cellar Door

And that my fashionable friends, will take you through this upcoming weekend in style. Much more to come!

Au revoir for now (I have designers to attend to)!

    xoxo,

    A
